Information Computer Technology
There are computers in every classroom and an interactive whiteboard shared throughout the day which are used to link every subject to I.C.T. Children are introduced to dedicated computer studies with a specialist teacher, using a bank of lap-tops, to complement and extend their work in all areas of the curriculum. They learn to control a mouse, operate music and art programs and to use simple programmable toys, digital cameras and videos. They learn word processing and to use the computer as a tool for research. There is also an optional extra-curricular Computer Club.
Government research has proven that:
- Children who use computers in a structured environment have significantly greater developmental gains in intelligence, problem solving, manual dexterity and long-term memory.
-
Computers enhance children's self esteem leading to increased levels of spoken communication and co-operation.
-
Children share leadership roles frequently and develop positive attitudes towards learning.
