Physical Education
Children are helped to develop good co-ordination and gross motor skills through a range of planned activities including climbing, balancing and throwing and catching. They are taught to move with confidence and expression through the use of dance and drama. Performances of plays are put on regularly. All classes take part in Friday afternoon sport on a nearby playing field, which includes football, tag rugby, cricket, rounders and athletics. The children learn country dancing, Sports Day is held annually in the summer term and swimming is taught from Year 1 on a weekly basis.
Children learn to be confident in the water, and master good stroke technique. Other outdoor activities include cross country running and early orientation skills.
