Religious Education
Religious Education forms an integral part of education at Glenhurst School through personal and social development and regular assemblies, which are mainly traditional with a Christian ethos. Children learn to respect other religions and cultures through the use of stories and celebration of appropriate festivals such as Divali and Hannukah. The Christmas Carol Service takes place in a local church. We also have visiting speakers from time to time.
Links with the Local Community
Glenhurst has strong links with the local community
of Havant. The school supports both the United Reformed Church,
where our Carol Service takes place and St. Faith's Church
where we attend the Christingle Service and other appropriate
events.
Glenhurst also supports the Havant Town Christmas Parade and has links with Orchard House retirement home, where Harvest gifts are taken. Groups of children usually visit with their teacher twice a year to sing, play recorders or recite poems to entertain the residents. We also have strong links with the Fire Brigade, the Police and with the Mayor of Havant, whose regular visits are always very popular .
The Ballet School is open to all children in the local community on Saturday mornings. Glenhurst School also provides a Spanish Club for children and adults in the wider community. This takes place on Tuesdays, from 3.45pm until 4.15pm.
The Nursery building is available to hire to groups and clubs in the evenings and at weekends. Please contact the School Office for further information.
