Thank you for your interest in Glenhurst.
We are committed to the highest standards of education and childcare in a happy atmosphere where children can develop their self-confidence through play. We follow the new Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for children from 0 to 5 years old, and the National Curriculum for children over the age of 5.
Glenhurst provides a fun and stimulating educational start in a safe, healthy and happy environment, to suit the needs of the individual child. The school encourages good manners and behaviour, and children are taught by example to become thoughtful, caring and confident individuals.
The Nursery and Pre-School children learn through a play-based Early Years curriculum which includes Jolly Phonics and Montessori educational activities, arts and crafts, music and singing, stories, games and sports, gardening, cooking and ICT. The children enjoy regular outings and join the Infant School for special events throughout the year. Hot lunches are freshly prepared daily by our cook, using local quality produce and ingredients. All childcare vouchers are accepted (Accor, Busy bees, 4-Care, Sodexho Pass etc) and monthly or termly payment options are available.
Glenhurst Nursery and Pre-School is OFSTED registered to claim the enhanced Pathfinder Early Years Grant for you for three educational terms per year, which gives you 15 free hours of care and education per week from the term following your child's third birthday.
Parents and carers of 0 to 3 year olds are welcome to come along to our Play Mornings, held on Fridays during Glenhurst term times from 10-11am in the Nursery. The Play Mornings are £1 per family, refreshments are provided and there is no need to book. Please click here for details. |

Glenhurst Infant School welcomes applications for places for children from Reception age (4½ to 5 years) to 8 years old. The School prides itself in its ability to offer individual attention to all our children, and in particular those who transfer to Glenhurst from other schools at any point during the academic year and who may require individual coaching. Classes are a maximum size of 18, and all children are heard to read every day, and are assessed at each stage in their development to ensure that they leave Glenhurst as confident, able 8 year olds. Many of our children go on to win scholarships or assisted places at their chosen Junior School. We also have specialist staff trained in Special Needs such as dyslexia. |
